I agree but my concern is that in 1934 people would have said « no one will accept huge numbers of Jews from Germany » and also have been right.

an important difference is that had there been Amnesty type human rights type campaiging in in 1934 it wd have argued that other countries shd accept them. The consensus of such orgs and like minded ppl is that in this case the Pals. must stay where they are
