Even mild COVID infections can make arteries stiffer, which increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The problem seems to come from how the virus attaches to ACER2 receptors. A positive is folks who were vaccinated showed less stiffening, and in many cases, blood vessels slowly recovered.
