We need economic impact analyses for every state. Research universities are the engines for growth statewide.

Right? States were universities are the biggest employers in the state include several of those swing states that were so important in the last election, including: NC, NM, WI, MI. Others include IA, NE and then NY, CA, VT.

Yes, but I would say AZ more than NM. NM is not really a swing state anymore, but yes incredibly dependent upon research funding. ASU and US are key engines of the Arizona economy, even though some reps like to think otherwise. And I can’t imagine how devastating this will be for LA, IA, NE and co

Yes, I’m sure AZ depends a lot on university jobs. I was just going off the report of the largest employer in states and in AZ it was listed as Banner Health. But, as we know, there is usually research positions in these organizations too. www.usnews.com/news/best-st...

I don’t know much about UA/Banner other than that they are leaders in research on coccidioidomycosis and that they definitely give Mayo a run for its money

Just spotted an autocorrect mishap: this should read “ASU and UA” as in University of Arizona.
