That you don't generally see state police patrolling non-state highways is merely an administrative choice about resource allocation, not because there is any legal bar to them doing so.
Then do it. "Fuck you; make me" should be the default choice for dealing with fascists. Of what use is pretending to have any administrative power if you're just going to do with it whatever fascists want, anyway?
I'm not sure what you think you're responding to? I was addressing the person's confident claim that it would be a "solution." It's absolutely worth doing for the principle of the thing, you're right, but it's not a "solution."
