What you need to do is understand what the Bible is, who actually wrote it, when it was written, and what the cultural context and significance of it is. I’d recommend Dr. Andrew Henry’s channel, “ReligionForBreakfast”. Educate yourself.

Thank you, Valentine. There are so many good books, but I recommend the sermons of Tim Keller and Tim Mackie on YouTube, for information about the Bible as ancient literature and apologetics for its reliability. Because it is usually not the Bible that really bothers people. It's God.

*sigh* I was a Christian for over 20 years, my dads a pastor, I don’t need apologetics. You - and many many others - need to see the mythology and cultural literary aspects of the book and stop trying to make it the “word of God”. My problem isn’t with “God”, it’s with people who try and…

…personify and deify the driving force of the universe and use it as a tool to control others. You may not personally be (purposefully) manipulating people using the Bible but many definitely are. And by pushing the “word of God” narrative, you’re protecting them. This is why I recommended…

…Dr. Henry’s work. He’s a scholar who helps illuminate the reality behind the Bible and its origins and original purpose. There is cultural history that one can glean from the Bible, but not by immersing oneself in its stories, but by analyzing when and why those stories were written.

THAT is the true significance of the Bible. Not as a still-relevant textbook, but as a window into the culture of the area and period it was written in. Treating it as fact is akin to treating Lord of the Rings as a factual historical record. It’s silly to do so. We can and should do better.

Your faith in secular humanism (and your own intellect!) is alarming, and as hard as it is to hear - your religion is the reason why the maga movement was able to take hold in America. Over half the people of the world know the God of Abraham as our creator - but YOU are smarter. Great! God bless.

youtu.be/NY-l0X7yGY0?... There have been ample studies into who wrote the Bible. This is not a complete mystery anymore that needs “divine inspiration”.

youtu.be/yV9VPM7lIoQ?... Further, the Gospels were not actual eyewitness accounts written by the four named characters. Again, this has been well-studied.

youtu.be/Qw13SadIPOs?... The Bible very obviously got some of its mythology from other cultures and religions at the time. Many of these myths are not unique and many pre-date the Bible.

The point is, the Bible has been thoroughly studied, and when you actually study the book *from reality* instead of trying to make history fit the text as written/translated, it’s easy to see. Take your head out of the Bible’s ass.

Wow. Get your head out of the Bible’s ass. Educate yourself. I implore you. MAGA is here because Christian Nationalists want it to be here and put it here. I don’t have a religion, and the “God of Abraham” is a myth. There’s ample evidence of this if you are willing to open your eyes.
