Hell, you shouldn’t even WANT a return to the simmering cauldron of unaddressed systemic -isms and a corrupt uniparty, where human rights are nothing more than tokens being played with by wealthy elites controlling that uniparty. America has NEVER been “great”.
If you’re about to “but but what about the ACA or Obergefell” me, save it. In a truly “great” society, we shouldn’t have a need for a special court case to enshrine human rights or be satisfied with a shitty health care system that still leaves millions behind. That shit should be enshrined.
Yes, this is a terrifying time of great upheaval. Lives being ruined and people dying are inevitabilities at this point. It’s going to get really, really bad. So when we finally get it all torn down, let’s not try and rebuild the broken system you’re idolizing. Let’s do better.
“When the dust settles”, we’ll be a highly-traumatized, weakened and smaller population, sitting on the carcass of a broken and failed empire. It will be up to those survivors to put in place a better and more evolved system that actually serves the people. Do not return to what was. Do better.
