If you understand the idea of ethical standards, why did you pretend in your earlier comment that I was motivated by thinking the GOP's candidate would be better than Newsom? It appears you're deliberately misrepresenting me because dealing w a straw man is easier than dealing w Newsom's deficits.
The argument isn't that the GOP candidate will be better - as you clearly know. The argument is that he's a person willing to sacrifice actual human beings to gain political power. When you elect a person who believes it's acceptable to sacrifice real people to gain personal power, it ends badly.
The idea that Newsom is somehow educable radically misses the point. This isn't a policy disagreement where I want the gov't to set the age for GAC access at 17 and he wants it at 26 and we compromise. He's saying trans ppl go to far to create a contrast that he can explain to appeal to centrists.
He's rhetorically using the "trans ppl go to far" trope to set up public disagreement w trans communities. He's increasing public anger at trans ppl over sports, bathrooms, and GAC to market himself as the great saviour during his campaign. He's using human beings as things for his aggrandizement.
Newsom has failed one of several basic tests for office in any country that aspires to democracy: do not fan flames of anger against a despised minority as a cynical ploy to make yourself seem more appealing to a particular voting bloc. It doesn't matter if the GOP is better or worse.

I have no issue at all criticizing his faults. People are fawning over him because he’s got the ire of pedoFOTUS. People are also acting like it’s election year, and he’s the candidate. The people have control over how trans right will be respected. It’s not on one man. Let’s not act like it.
