👀⚖️🎓 It may seem good to give slots at Harvard only to Americans but when you do this👇🏾, you end the chance for American students to learn from foreign students and you lose the opportunity for foreign students to learn great things from the US that might be very different from their home nation.

This tactic, applied to any US public university, would break its budget. Applying it to Harvard just seems like bad policy. Applying it to Berkeley, or Iowa State, or UVa, would be devastating.

Maybe. But in my opinion more likely, schools would simply raise tuition on in-state students to make up for the lack of out of state or international-tier revenue.

States control that. In California a big tuition hike would most likely be prohibited.

F-1 students subsidize education costs for the vast majority of US citizen students.

Foreign students subsidize American students. Fewer foreign students means fewer, not more, American students at a much smaller university and results in a bigger trade deficit.

Normal thinking people know this. The admin..... not so. So stewed in their retribution juices, they don't care who they hurt or what the implications will be. We've already lost whatever credibility we managed to scrape back on the foreign political stage, now they are going after the social stage.

This is a totally arbitrary action by the Trump administration that will hopefully be quicker overturned in court. However, it seems absurd that 27% of Harvard's students are from overseas. At least some good may come out of this if leads to moderation of that number.
