He got monstered by the RW press and centrists before. The mechanism to drive whatever spin they want is pretty much instant and effective for the right audience now. How do you think you get away with televised genocide for 22 months?
Zionism isn't synonymous with the right for Israel to exist. Zionism implies supremacy, entitlement, imperialism, endless expansion, ie. endless war. Believing, as Corbyn does, that the latter is problematic, doesn't mean believing Jews should be annihilated. The Zionists are convinced it does.
Right, because Zionism in practice sticks to the dictionary definition. I can see the uproar now in the Knesset: "We must put an immediate stop to the settler violence and rapid expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank! It goes against the dictionary!"
Perhaps if Corbyn knew the dictionary definition he wouldn't look so stupid in the face of a fair and simple question from a journalist.
The literal definition of jihad is "struggle." In scriptures, that's mostly referred to as internal struggle to embody the teachings. But in headlines it's synonymous with violence- an external struggle. So if a reporter asks a Muslim: Yes or no, do you believe in jihad? Isn't that a trick question?
Every Muslim I know would be happy to explain what Jihad means to them.
But he was given a yes or no question.
He's supposed to be a politician and he's entitled to answer in anyway he chooses.
