After a day most wearisome, spent in ceaseless correspondences multiplying without end, I seek retreat in computation, as though in research I might find sanctuary from such clamour. Here am I, in my chamber, attended by a glass of wine and the solemn company of Law & Order, embracing solitude.

Text on a beige background in red font: “Let's normalise texting each other like weary 18th-century explorers. 'Dearest friend, I have endured yet another week in this cruel capitalist wasteland. Morale is low. Wine supplies are critical.’”

In the scientific research system, the scientists are aggravated by two separate but equally annoying embuggerances: administrivia and sleep deprivation. Well that’s my story.

Friday afternoon and it’s absolutely pissing down. All I need now is a raven and a mantle piece.

It was actually pretty good (not great, but "good considering conditions") ☺️ ... more just channeling a feeling based upon your lead off there.

Emails are so often loathsome. I'm absolutely certain it was justified. Re: Run: Best part of run was a bunch of new music I'd cycled into my playlist ... and I always love conquering "kill hill", as I call it. The run actually has 3 of them, but the first is particularly intense.

Not bad! Somewhere Edgar Allen Poe is smiling.

Coincidentally, our friend group recently did a Poe salon night and I did an interpretive dance to a reading of Telltale Heart 😆

Haha. I did too, ages ago in high school. All I remember is "For the love of God, Montresor!" Makes you think twice when you start pining for some "alone time." 🤣
