At this time of year the nights seem to draw in at a gallop. The rate of change speeds up the closer we get to the Equinox. In London, sunset gets earlier by half an hour during July and an hour during August.

I was in the uk at xmas & had forgotten how early it got dark. Watching the sunset in Nottm made me look up the time vs Toulouse, where i only seem to need lights on my bike for a few months for my commute, rather than half the year 2hrs more daylight in winter. No wonder my mum always gets down

But it was about the other way round in summer. Gets dark here relatively early

Everywhere in the world gets more-or-less the same amount of daylight over the course of a year. It’s just that the variance is more extreme the further you get from the equator.

I was in Finland a few years ago in Aug and sat up chatting, drinking. Sun still up. Hadn’t realised it was 2am The sun had skimmed the horizon and was popping back up. Was mental to watch. No curtains anywhere in the houses we rented either
