Yep. The only publication to retain a sense of perspective was Private Eye. I was working in Brussels at the time and was glad to be away.

It was a mad time. I remember taking my very young daughter to a birthday party on the day of the funeral. Half the kids hadn't bothered to turn up for reasons that I still don't understand today.

I liked the spread they did with commentators dissing Diana on one side, then the same commentators’ gushing tributes on the other.
