I moved to Los Angeles in 1984 and, as you entered the San Fernando Valley, the air was a brownish orange. There were days you couldn’t breathe. 41 years later the sky is clear and the air clean. I no longer drive into a smog cloud. Thank you, California, for keeping us breathing.

I grew up in the valley. We had smog days when they wouldn't let us outside to play. You could almost chew the air.
