I have doubts that it will end. May get much worse. Not sure what many are thinking who didn't vote. It's soul crushing.

I think you may be, sadly, right. I think the first thing you need is a federal body which runs elections under consistent voting rules nationwide. The ridiculous gerrymandering removes all pretence of democracy.
