Of course even GHW Bush increased the Debt relative to the GDP during his term. So he wasn't exactly a strong Deficit hawk.

The Recession was over in March '91 and only lasted 8 months. It is interesting that American recessions over the previous half century are largely a GOP President Phenomenon. The only Dem who had a recession was Obama, who inherited Bush's banking collapse.
