I know that his response to Kneecap was luke warm at first when he didn’t sign on to the artists letter in support of them. And then his justification of that didn’t sit well with me, which is where my scepticism came from.

Fair enough, I confess I actually completely missed that! I am guilty of presuming he's usually 100% sound. In fairness he didn't quite attempt to "both-sides" genocide and he has been unequivocally supportive since, but now I do understand why you might have been suspicious.

And I was perhaps overly quick to be defensive of him beause he is one of the relatively few Big Old Lefties who has been really loud about trans rights ad I really appreciate that about him!
