I actually saw Takahe in two places, in Te Anau and in Orokonui. Both places worth visiting. I have also seen Kea in the Fjordland area. My sister is living in NZ and for some time, she had been working as a tour guide, so she knows where all the interesting places are.

Very cool. Went thru Te Anau after the Routeburn but this was a long time ago, also did Copland Track.
