I’d be happy to donate towards ending the scourge of childhood hunger, but none of these grocery store fundraisers actually intend to do that. At best they’re attempting to put an adhesive bandage on a wound while an assailant continues to stab.

I always say no because that company takes the money you donate, puts in a high-yield interest account, pockets that interest, disburse funds to their "charity", takes a tax break from the government, and writes it all off on their taxes as well. Sus as hell. I donate directly.

I don’t disagree at all. But to call their donations a campaign to end hunger is thoroughly disingenuous. The donation might help temporarily alleviate it for some, but hardly ends it for everyone for all time. That’s what ending hunger must include if words are to have any meaning at all.

It's a tax break for them using your money. I hate it.
