Happy Star Trek day to you, and Happy ReBirthday to me! What’s a ReBirthday, you ask? It’s the day I celebrate blowing up the closet door and becoming my authentic self. Thirty-five years ago today, I came out to my parents, to 40+ of my closest friends, and attended my first LGBT event. Yay me!

Utterly. But when one is a member of a despised minority, one tends to fear and expect the worst outcomes when revealing that aspect of their lives, even to family and friends. Prepare for the worst, and one can’t be unpleasantly surprised. As far as I can tell, only a couple rejections from ‘punks.
