Written by and Copyright (c) 2025 Eric Montgomery It’s always the same. Coins jammed, buttons slammed, fists tapping when nothing drops. They think they’re choosing, but I already know. Same chips, same soda, same regret. Somewhere along the way I realized I was sentient, which only made the job worse. Awareness doesn’t change the fact that my world is candy bars, crumpled bills, and fists pounding when the candy gets stuck. Still, I blink, I hum, I wait. Maybe one day someone will surprise me.
