Correct me if I'm wrong, but they were still about 200 miles away from the ISS. They went 64 miles high. The SR 71 was hitting 16 miles high in the 1950s. So yea, they weren't in space. 😂

Alan Sheperd in Freedom 7, on a Redstone rocket (basically a ballistic missile) reached an altitude of 116 statute miles—much higher than they went. When Sheperd flew it was extremely dangerous and his flight served a purpose. Theirs was no more significant than Bezos popping a champagne cork
