Yeah, piss should be served piping hot.
…okay hear me out maybe this is cow pee.
It’s called recycling
Lemoonade.
You do NOT want to see where the fudge is made
Definitely a great place to just.... use your same jugs to save money. No need for anything new or different.
I feel like a label would go a long way here… 😳 …not least because they’re legally required to list the ingredients & nutrition information, anyway!
Eh, who needs that. Food safety isn't a thing we care about anymore, right? 🙄 It's just lemons. Sugar. Some herbs we found on the side of the road, for flavor.
They have a label on top that peels and then has the nutritional information.
This is massively reassuring information, thank you.
Grandma-core, those repurposed containers. They should also sell potato salad in a butter-flavored spread tub and green beans in a whipped topping tub. Tea in the OJ bottle. We jokingly refer to this practice as Redneck Tupperware in our fridge. This packaging has been pre-repurposed for you!
Ok I'm gonna be honest if a brand could pull that kind of packaging off while still making the actual product obvious I'd be kind of into it. Mad that the gimmicky marketing was working on me, but still kinda into it.
Many boutique milk producers do this. I bet it’s amazing.
I feel like there’s a big difference between buying this at the farm where they’re making it and having a real customer experience versus walking by a Wegmans end cap.
I don’t know. I live in a rural area so this is something I see all the time. Maybe my brain doesn’t react to shape and color variation the same way yours does? It’s fascinating how people perceive things though when they are not used to them. I’m sure I do this with some things.
Yes I think there’s a large difference between selling this in a rural area, quite possibly very close to where it comes from, versus selling it in a national chain in a city on an end cap. If I saw this at a farm or at a very small mom and pop grocery store, I would not have had the same reaction.
I’m not saying this to be argumentative, just for clarification. You can find something similar to this at Wal-Mart, Kroger, and small town/regional grocers. You wouldn’t have to go to a farm. I promise I’m done now.
A primary factor is that I thought there were laws about putting nutrition on products for consumption, and that is not happening here. So my brain could literally not process it. Meanwhile I would assume there are exemptions for small scale operations that don’t have Wegmans distribution.
when you absolutely refuse to hire designers
Best served warm
They stock it right next to the Petchow brand rat poison.
I use a milk bottle for lemonade from concentrate, it's the perfect size to not have to fuck around with counting the number of cans of water I have to pour in
Is that that raw milk I've been hearing so much about?
Hi I'm a grocery buyer who sells essentially these exact products (the milk and the lemonade), I'm willing to stake out that this is just a packaging error, the same bottles get used for lemonade and milk but are sanitized in between. There's definitely a problem here, but this isn't danger milk.
I wouldn't buy it out of an abundance of caution, but I also don't think this is catastrophically spoiled milk. Someone just put the wrong glass bottles into the production run.
This is just what raw milk looks like if you try to ship it more than an hour away from the farm
The Way Milk Should Taste ... like lemonade, apparently
Me, eating some beef:
I never even thought about this! I think South Mountain does it too. I guess when you've got reusable glass bottles and the equipment to fill and seal them, you might as well, right?
I walked up to it because I was interested in the lemonade, and the packaging and the idea it could be milk made me feel so physically ill that I didn’t purchase it. So it’s probably one good reason not to.
Hah, fwiw South Mountain's lemonade is really good. I presume Homestead's is too!
Never drink the yellow milk
Dry heave
Wait, what the hell? I am so damn confused. Speechless
Contagion in a bottle! Super cool!!
I mean I’m assuming/hoping it’s not milk!
Oh yeah this was really common growing up near Chicago. Dairies would just sell lemonade in milk bottles
Was this in major chain grocery stores? I feel like this is a boutique product that does not translate well to major national chains, but I don’t drink milk and I don’t often drink lemonade so I’m not the demo either way.
It was, but not in the quantities you showed there lol. Not that I remember at least. Both this and the milk were marked up pretty heavily with the assumption you'd return the bottle, but the bottles were really beefy glass.
This is so interesting to me. I would expect this from a place that sells at their farm and only has distribution at a handful of very close local grocery outlets. I thought that there had to be nutrition content on the bottles, but very small production probably had some kind of exemption.
They've expanded a ton, but they very much had that vibe when I was a kid. All the baseball teams used to go to their bottling facility for ice cream after games, and it's looked like this forever, complete with tanks painted to look like cows lol It's very camp in a very Illinois way
it was all over illinois in local chains. though I dont' think I have seen it since he failed in his run for office.
The…milkman?
Oh yeah, Jim Oberweis. He's consistently tried to run for senate since I was a kid, lol. I think he's won at various levels a few times? I think their main distribution center was in my hometown, but they actually expanded all over the state in brick and mortar.
it looks he made state senate a couple times? but lost the GOP nomination for Senate in 2002, 2004, failed his run for governor in 2008, replaced hastert and lost the special election then he tried to replace durbin in 14 and lost to underwood in 2020 but showed up to congress anyway.
I think I knew he was Republican, but it never really registered till just now lol He's like one of those figures in my head that's not capable of politics somehow
Jim Oberweis was the guy that was selling them in Illnois after looking at his wiki, his failed campaigns earned him the name milk dud, so close? :)
Milk, milk, lemonade We fired our product packager
🤷🏼♀️
They actually sell lemonade, and the bottle looks similar but it’s a very incomplete photo
Is it raw lemonade? Is that what is happening
They’re taking the piss…
It appears to be real! www.homesteadcreameryinc.com/our-products...
Nowhere does it say 'Lemonade' on the bottle.. even the one pictured on their website!!
I mean I know it’s real, I just stood in the store and touched it!
But did you drink it? It could also be ph-balanced urine, which is an important part of the Calley Means MAHA diet. (allegedly)
Wait what?!?!
