That’s some high impact policing. Wonder what regular FBI agents think about how they are being used

While failing to stop a shooting on Massachusetts Ave, NW.
citing pot use... on crank
The people of DC voted to legalize weed already. Congress overturned the referendum once it passed. There shouldn't even be a charge here at all. DC for Statehood ASAP, though.
Is cannabis legal in DC?
Yes
so they just arrested the calmest person in the city
😆
In Washington, D.C., if you have marijuana in your car, it must be properly stored. Additionally, your license plate must be from D.C. Even if you have Virginia license plates with marijuana in your car, it’s illegal because you’re crossing the state line, which is prohibited. ‼️BEWARE‼️
Wonder how many tax dollars were spent to stop the reefer madness.
Talk about having no life
10 for pot. This is so stupid. At some point, that has got to occur to you. You're pushing innocent ppl around; harassing them for a bitter old fool who's too weak and feeble to push a button. So, he has to order others to do it for him. Stop and think. Get a different job and leave these ppl alone.
Oh for fuck’s sake. It’s fucking legal in DC, VA, and MD.
It never got decriminalized federally, sadly, and DC can't fall back on states' rights. To be clear, I'm not justifying this arrest, as it's entirely immoral. Lots of laws these days are immoral. Perhaps it's time to start anew.
Title 7 Chapter 16B of D.C Code and Initiative 71 of the 2014 citizen's bill legalized marijuana in DC and the period for Congress to act to repeal it has long passed.
That's not how territorial law works. States may have an argument under the 10th Amendment, but territories have no such rights to impose a deadline like that. Your logic is the same misstep that sovereign citizens make. Of course, this *is* a great reason for DC to be a state.
And DC is NOT a fucking territory. Sorry, but you are way wrong here.
Sorry. District. The underlying point, though, is that D.C. isn't empowered by the Enclave Clause to just ignore and vote out existing federal statute and Rohrabacher-Farr doesn't apply here, as far as I can tell (all the text I can find refers to "state").
Yes, they literally are in this particular area.
I'm very skeptical of that claim, and I have a feeling lawyers will be as well. But hey, we're going to get to see how it plays out soon, apparently.
That’s not how it works in DC. Like, at all. DC has legislative Home Rule. This isn’t remotely like claiming a court doesn’t have jurisdiction because of flag fringes.
Home goddamn Rule FTW!
People are going to point out that it’s legal, but it’s not in the eyes of Feds. Smoking in public is not legal and will give them a reason to harass you. We need to be more discreet for the time being.
They don’t get to enforce a separate set of laws because of their agency.
They absolutely do. Just ask them.
Weed. Really? Weed.
It sucks. And there are probably more than a few serving life sentences due to three strikes and mandatory minimums. They won't tell us though so 🤷♂️ www.lastprisonerproject.org/cannabis-pri...
Morning meeting: "We look like idiots, walking around and not finding the crime the President wants. Today we need to find ANY crime where we can perp walk and get on national news. Also, the cafeteria is serving pepper steak."
...which is legal all over the country.
Not legal everywhere
Not yet, anyway. But certainly not worthy of a militarized arrest.
