Don’t forget NYC! We have a model for a walkable US city, we’ve just chosen not to follow it.

I considered it but it's fucking vast, and you would need to repave all the sidewalks in something less punishing to the feet to make it walkable I had to buy new shoes to cope with NYC. I had worn the shoes I took around conventions and on cobbled streets, but NYC defeated them Not bitter🤷

Sidewalks in the UK are softer?

We have paving stones, sometimes asphalt, and sometimes brick. The latter two have a bit more give in them. Apparently the US generally uses concrete slabs, and NYC might use a version with cobblestone (the site looked a bit AI slop) which is harder on the feet. Your poor dogs
