My bad. It still seems like it's a bad idea. Identity politics are killing the NDP.

I hear you. However, for me, the NDP is the only party in Canada showing an interest in more than just men's political beliefs and values. Women and gender diverse folks are slightly more than half the population. We're working class too. We deserve to be heard. And the NDP are the only ones trying.
Sure, they're trying - and failing. The NDP used to be the party of unions, farmers, trades and resource workers, which includes a lot of men. However, those groups feel like they've been abandoned by the party, which has shifted to urban culture war grievances they don't see as that important.
And it's not that they don't care or believe in those issues, they just see them as minor "campus controversies" or basically settled when compared to the price of living, jobs, pensions, worker safety, health care, etc.
I am an NDP voter (last election excepted) and I'd really like them to focus on workers for a while - wages, benefits, adding a week of vacation, expanding unions, reducing tuition and making student loans easier to repay, protecting jobs and industries.
I'm on board with all of those policies. I'll say one final time though that women and gender diverse folks are also working class. What you call a culture war battle is the lived experience of over half the population. All the best going forward!
Culture war battles feel like a luxury, a lower priority to focus on when the nuts and bolts of the country are fixed and we're not under economic attack from our closest neighbour.
