Basically someone in the middle. They might be in-between democratic ideologies and republican ones. Though a lot of centrists now usually buy into a lot of the republican side of things. It's pretty hard to pin centrists down to any like... specific group really.

I should note some democrats could be classified as centrists, like... democratic socialism is somewhat of a centrist ideology depending on who you ask. I think it is, but well... most leftists see centrists as mainly the ones who are "apolitical", but regurgitate a lot of what republicans say.

I see... what about a person that doesn't have a political ideology they support? would they be centrist?

It kind of depends. People often have more political opinions than they believe. Perhaps some do not consider beliefs politics. Like, some could argue that trans rights are not politics, just that our cause is wrongfully politicized. Politics are really hard to explain.

True... I also often find people making things political for no reason and it's pretty confusing why

This kinda goes also into the whole "what do you consider political?", but also; in America, politics have been an extremely important, and serious issue. So as a result, many people want to take a stand, and speak up about things. I guess you can say, it's our culture?

I have no idea if this is because most of the internet has American content, but from my observations, Americans in general are much more invested in politics compared to where i live, australia

I'm sure it has something to do with it. America is built on Nationalism. Basically; a sense of proudness for our country. Hence why the National Anthem plays, everyone stands for it, and you can lose your job if it requires being on TV, and you don't stand. We're all conditioned to be outspoken.
