You are the official opposition - so what are you doing to oppose this? How will you directly fight to protect disabled Albertans? Platitudes and future campaign promises are meaningless, what will you DO, now, to meet this moment?!?

The UCP have a majority- they can push through anything. The opposition is doing their job by calling it out, offering what should be done & consulting with Albertans. What else can they do?

Sorry, I must have missed the small print that tells everyone how "calling things out, offering meaningless what-ifs, and consulting" helps disabled people keep the housing they're losing TODAY. Or where that puts food in people's fridges, or pays for lost supports/programs/aides. Silly, silly me.

If none of this is possible, what use is the NDP in opposition? If they can't, in any way - or WON'T- help the people whose votes they desire to stay alive long enough to do said voting, of what use are they, period?

If we don’t have an NDP there is literally zero opposition. So you’re saying just give up & let the UCP have a full on dictatorship?Apathy of the people in this province got us here. Just like the US. Everyone sat back & waited for someone else to win the fight against evil. We all need to fight back

I’m rereading the thread & truly struggling to follow your train of thought. What exactly do you expect them to do & how. They can’t rewrite policy, legislation, acts etc. Help me understand.

They Need To HELP People Encourage people to donate to Mutual Aid funds or - instead of this months' NDP donation plea - they could ask ppl to donate to food banks. As landlords, they can drop/reduce/freeze rent. They literally are not required to only enact legislation in order to help people FFS.

Just wondering- have you written your MLA- or shadow minister as the case may be? Have you expressed these ideas to them? I know a fair number on their FB pages that are always out supporting & promoting a variety of agencies. It would seem you’re putting a blanket of judgement on them.

And yeah, i AM judging them. For their consistent lack of direct action and for refusing to listen when people say what hey need. For having networks & connections and social power, yet using NONE of it to help people they insist are super important and invaluable. Actions speak louder than words.

Why is your first assumption that none of these "write/talk to your rep" approaches have been tried? What do you think gets people to a point of frustration with politicians as do-nothing careerists? Maybe, just maybe, assume that people have tried all the typical channels to absolutely no avail.

Oh, gosh, that's an OPTION? I had no idea that during all of the volunteer hours, committee meetings, and other political engagement I've done that i could also TALK to the people in the room. Ma'am, my hat's off to you for figuring out what I was doing wrong!

Help people keep their housing. MASK at these meetings so already-disabled and chronically ill folks don't have to risk their health just to be heard. Help folks regain access to supports/programs/aides they've had taken away. Help people LIVE, now. Speeches are useless when rent is due.

We’re not okay. We’re surviving without food, light, or peace. Children cry themselves to sleep, and we don’t know how to comfort them. If you’ve ever cared about Gaza even once please, help me save my family. Gaza needs you.🙏🏻💔help me please❤️‍🩹

I agree 100%. Not sure that the opposition can do any of these things, except mask.

Many NDP MLAs are landlords. That seems like a site of action. The party has a great fundraising appartus (judging by the # of emails, etc. that go out), why not volunteer time to raise $$ for supports/meds/aids? Caring means action, not a speech & "vote for us in 3 years (if you're still alive)!"
