Awesome video, and its short enough that Hasan might watch it
Awesome video, and its short enough that Hasan might watch it
Only to ridicule it as he should
ugh, ok I'll bite, why should Hasan ridicule it?
Maybe cause of the slur in the title and use of said slur within the video? But what do I know, I'm just a white person that shouldn't speak over indigenous people on their own oppression. You'll bite, but didn't at all give a flying fuck to read the replies of indigenous people here?
It's always a weird spot for me being both Indian and Indigenous American.
Here. See? I don't know if the term counts as a slur, I'm not the slur-police. I mean, the term queer was a slur for a while, and some gay and lesbian people still don't like it, but is it a slur? That's secondary though
Is this a joke? Are you joking here? It’s been known to not use that word for literally decades
She said in the bit of the video that the alternative terms were introduced decades ago, but that some indigenous people didn't prefer those new terms and actually did prefer "indian". I thought this too, though I've now realized that's not the case. Idk where this misconception came from.
Valerie STFU It's not up to you. It is a slur to indigenous people. Yes,we use it among ourselves. Not your place to whitesplain. #wearestillhere
Alright, fair enough. I was told the term was fine previously, I suppose I heard wrong
By a white person? We use NDN between us, but usually it's; Hey, my fam is from the Brokenhead nation. I am Ojibwe Cree and Métis. Using Indian is like a slave name the colonizers gave us.
shiiit I think it was actually, I can go double check but I likely did the thing Sorry about that
So if a straight person told you the f-slur was ok, would you believe them? What if some gay people are fine having it said? When I learn a word has been used to hurt marginalized people I don't use do it. I definitely think it would be obvious you shouldn't then tell 1.66 MILLION subs its all good.
If a large enough amount of gay people did actually prefer being refered to as a faggot rather than being refered to as 'gay people', yes? I mean, I already brought up the term 'queer', unless there's some relavent difference between the terms.
Oh so you’re just a horrible person, that makes sense.
What? No, *I'm* a faggot wdym Although I've since decided that with indigenous people, the term is more like faggot and less like queer, because of the ratio of people in the group who still don't want it to be regularly used
Does this seem like a good argument to have, in this time and place? A good place for reclaiming slurs?
Which slur do you think I'm reclaiming right now? If you mean faggot, yes, but not really because of this particular thread or anything I just use that word
There is a difference. Queer was reclaimed in a broad movement exemplified by such cries as “we are here we are queer”. The same is definitively not true of the slur she uses
But that isn't the case. There isn't a large enough group of us giving the f-slur a green light for straights to use, are there? Seems like you're decidedly not figuring out the message here. So next time you need help on "what is a slur" here slurs.info and there's a section for 'native american'.
Here's some articles www.businessinsider.com/native-ameri... & hechingerreport.org/student-voic... cause I'm a white queer trans woman & shouldn't at all pretend like I'm the one stop shop for knowledge. You can at least try or recognize you ain't better than transphobes doing "what's a woman" shit.
If many in a group consider it a slur, which it overwhelmingly considered that, then it is a slur even if some don't t care. Why are you so adamant on defending this hate?
