Unsurprisingly, the Russians have misread the situation. Yes, the Ukrainians want peace--but not at the expense of their freedom and sovereignty. The reason that Ukraine has been calling for a ceasefire has been simply to mollify Trump. They are more than happy to keep killing the foreign invaders.
