I used to hope that Ukraine would destroy the bridge. But then I read a report from a good analyst explaining why the bridge should remain intact. When the siege of Crimea eventually occurs, the bridge will be the only exit for masses of panicked fleeing Russian civilians and soldiers.

Better that they flee Crimea, leaving Crimea open for taking, rather than trapping them on Crimea, making the siege more difficult. Ferries would be impractical. Also, a panic flight is good for destroying Russian morale and resistance. Especially on world wide TV.
