There are some very gentle, simple exercises you can do to assist(you tube is your friend). PT is the only thing that has really helped me and my chronic back issues.

Strangely, it was my PT exercise that set off my last back spasm hell chain.
Thank you. I’m laying here trying to recall what exercises worked in the past. Maybe I’ll hit up YouTube.
While chronic, I've been fighting with more significant lower back pain for the past 10 month 🫠 Recently get a new PT who showed me Diaphragmatic Breathing. It engages & then releases back muscles that I, at least, was keeping permanently tensed. Has helped a lot. Maybe try it out.
Put your hands on your sides so the fingers are at the front and thumbs at the back. Breath in "filling up your torso from the bottom up" an expand you belly and low back. Your back won't move a ton but you should feel it pushing out against your thumbs. In for 4s. Out for 6s.
Thank, yeah, I do diaphragmatic breathing for pain management, but it really is a practice that needs to be maintained, isn’t it, lol? Doing it now. Appreciate the reminder.
It definitely has a mental calming effect but I was shocked at the physical effect it had on me too. Good luck!
My PT recommends the book Treat Your Own Back, and we used that as a treatment basis, I find it helpful.
