I think after he fought alongside the Heroes in Death Metal back in 2020 that he's had a change of heart and is trying to better himself. At least, that's my theory.

I'd like to see it is that he's kinda representation of whatever the current comic audiences taste are whenever he reappears.

That is one way of viewing it.

Well, there's 2 options: Williamson could have been cracking a joke (we can't hear it, obviously), or it could be that, following his bit in Death Metal, he no longer hates new things, and has perhaps embraced the edge.
