I get that he is bound by judicial ethics here, but it’s hard to take the civics argument seriously from the author of Trump v. United States. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...

As many legal experts express grave concern about Trump’s attacks on law firms and with several federal judges advancing inquiries into whether the administration is refusing to comply with court orders, Roberts took a longer-term view Monday. He blamed schools for shortchanging civics education and leaving students with little understanding of the structure of U.S. government or the role of the courts. “That’s really too bad,” the chief justice told graduating students at the law school. “We’re developing a situation where a whole group of young people is growing up having no real sense about how our system of justice works.”

By unnecessary and frivolous delays on rulings then deciding Trump is immune from prosecution, in absolute opposition to the Constitution, Roberts has made it clear he hates our government. So exactly what is it he wants children to be taught?

It’s sad that so many Americans have grown up thinking that they live in a democracy where the rule of law is paramount. How disappointing when it turns out that their democracy was a very thin veneer over an oligarchy where only money matters.

Talk about tone deaf and willful blindness (and I mean that term in the legal sense).

John Roberts could hold a series of "Civics 101" lectures this summer if he, you know, really cared about this.

Roberts is accurate and at the same time clueless. It’s the kind of clueless thinking that fails to recognize his own responsibility in destroying norms. It’s to be expected (I suppose) of one who lives a life of sheltered privilege.

"Do you worry that Trump isn't complying with court orders?" "Kids these days don't understand the law!" What a dismissive, non sequitur response.

It may be true that young people don’t understand how the justice system works due to lack of civics education, but what is Trump’s excuse?

Maybe they're confused because the judicial system regarding Trump isn't working?

That’s BS. Civics Education is required in most states. In some states, it’s a graduation requirement.

No shit. Roberts lecturing on civics. Does he think Thomas and alito knowing civics and "how things work" have made for a better judiciary? Maybe he should push Ethics harder.
