When I was a Boy Scout they used to tell us the number one thing was to leave the campsite better than it was when you found it. So that it looked like no one had ever even been there.

They also taught us to cut down & strip everything in sight to build "shelters" & camp gear that never got finished. Even at that age I was confused by the hypocrisy
Is that what you took away from this story?
Consider the actual reasons why you were drinking
Well that surely has some heft, thanks for sharing. I’ll be asking the Book Nook to set me up with this beauty when walking my dog later today
hell yeah
Love this one Luke, a lot
Thank you buddy I appreciate your taste
Read this and chuckled to myself haha dumb motherfuckers. Read it to my wife and couldn’t get last part out. Got all choked up. Turns out I’m a dumb motherfucker too.
Always looking for redemption. Preordered.
Been staring at “I never really believed later was an actual place I’d ever have to live in” for several minutes
I think that's the Boy Scout motto, right? "Leave nothing behind but bubbles and a faint scent of s'mores."
That's great thank you! There was an episode of the Jetsons where George gets Uniblab the robot drunk, and Spacely fires Uniblab.

Oh fuck yeah. I get some denis Johnson and I LOVE THAT. Going to buy immediately.

Leave nothing but footprints, and take nothing but memories. That’s how my troop was taught.
It’s what I’m teaching my kids still
Same here!
Wow. Wow for the whole thing, of course, but a special Wow for opening with the finale. Absolutely masterful.
So true.
SIR
Fuuuuuuuuck
Man, why do you have to single me out like this, and in public. What did I ever do to deserve this kind of abuse?
Fuck, dude, been meaning to pre-order, but this one has me sitting in my back yard crying, so I guess today’s the day.
That's the idea ;) Thanks bud!
I know it seems like I'm giving the whole book away on here but it's 330 pages. This baby can hold so much weltschmerz.
Holy shit. This just transported me. Thank you!
I remember an essay from the 70s that used the Boy Scout Handbook as a way to comment on the political BS of those days. "A Boy Scout does not wiretap his friends. "A Boy Scout does not bomb neutral countries, and lie about it." Wish I could recall author.
