I have two books, "Lies my teacher told me" and "Lies across America" that point out some of the real story. In the second book it is pointed out what is false about our historic sites and monuments. Unfortunately the US has always been a racist country and still is, such as the MAGA folks.
Unlike Trump, I think being patriotic means we must truthfully learn and teach our true history and make sure each generation is dedicated to ensuring we never again repeat the horrific wrongs of those before us. White washing history is anti democratic and anti American.
