I have friends and family visit me in Washington D.C. from cities all over the country. Their universal message: "Wow, this city is so clean!" Yes, D.C. is clean and safe. Shocker, I know.

Agree. Long time since I was there. But subways for instance were so clean. People were helpful. I don't know a city in the world with out homeless..

the last time i visited DC i walked around with friends well after dark. the only time i felt a little skittish was when we saw the shadow of a massive rat crawl into the wheel well of a garbage truck (rats gotta live too)
