Some time ago I reviewed Anthony Bale's "A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages," a fascinating book which impressed upon me the importance of washing my legs before getting into bed: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

And now I want to bat my eyes at the Getty and the Met in hopes that this exhibit comes (perhaps even expanded???) to NYC: www.getty.edu/exhibitions/...
Plus, interview with the curator here: buttondown.com/ModernMediev... @pretensesoup.bsky.social, if you join me in urging the universe to manifest this exhibit's travel to NY, I will join you in urging etc etc to the city of your choice #History #MedievalHistory #Travel
Ooh, that looks really good! I didn't realize the Getty had any medieval manuscripts!
It's a small exhibit, and if you get around to the interview the curator says something about how she'd have loved to include pilgrim badges: this is one of the reasons I'd love it to come to NYC, bec. I bet anything the Cloisters has some.
Alas, manuscript shows rarely travel like that, because the works are light-sensitive and the organizers have usually worked out how many days etc. the various pages will be on view before they have to be put away again. But the Morgan does lots of great manuscript shows too!! Psalms in the Fall!
Ooh yes. Pilgrim badges are super cool, and so little-known!
