soooo, that effectively kills incentive to manufacture in the US 🤦♀️

I'm not distracted at all! EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! .. EPSTEIN FILES! Thank you for your attention in this matter! 8647
Correct. Package a bunch of chips in a metal box with a knob. Call it a “computer.” Done.
keep going mate, you're gonna be a rock star.. big fan..
making Tariff engineering great again
www.cnbc.com/2025/06/18/b...
I can’t find this anywhere. I checked last night. Can Anyone help me out? TIA!
Reminds me of my former school principal who wasn’t allowed to buy computers. However, parts were okay. So the invoice listed hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse… 😇
So Trump is double-dog daring congress to fight him over his triple down rhetoric or, more likely, he and the unqualified people congress put in charge are clueless how manufacturing, mining, forestry, farming and other industry work in this country, including where our food comes from.
Yes, and if you buy Trump's cyber currency, or his watch, or give to his reelection campaign (?) or rent one of his apartments, or join Mar A Lago, your company will be in line for a tariff exemption, maybe even a pardon if your CEO committed fraud (that will cost a lot more, but what is money!)
Exactly. So - expand that to a lot of stuff assembled here with microcontrollers (such as those in small appliances). Manufacturers will move their US assembly off shore, then import the finished item with the embedded chips. Clearly NutLick and Bessent have NO idea how stuff is built.
interesting business model idea
If you buy a diamond ring it's dutiable as jewelry but if you bring in unset diamonds they are duty free. Tariffs don't always make sense. In trumps case most tariffs don't make sense.
Amstrad CPC 472, here we go again :D
💯💯💯💯
… when has he made sense? 😒
Am I understanding this? If that happens (300% for a semiconductor out of a computer or phone, but not in), won't it make much more sense to move computer manufacturing currently in the US offshore to avoid the higher tariffs on independent chips? Yeah, sounds bananas.
Pretty much what every tariff does. Why build anything here if it's 3x more expensive for materials, 4x more expensive for labor (who also have medical problems/ can't read) and only 2x more expensive to just import?
Consider whose policy it is.
I came here to say exactly this.
CNBC had an article up claiming new product code numbers for items w/ steel & aluminum in them raising the number of tariffs imposed by 400 or more eg fire extinguishers. Why would they do that & why wouldn't they just list the products rather than listing the 10 digit code?
I admit I don't fully understand AI but why couldn't they run he list through AI to get the name of the product?
I have a bad feeling that same thing is about to get super weird for steel and aluminum with this recent change impacting a lot of industries. I look forward to you explaining how THIS is supposed to work on steel/aluminum derivative products: www.reuters.com/business/us-...
I'm out of retirm't (temporary) and back working at UI this week, ugh. How things have changed is not necessarily for the better--most of my old team and trusted sources have left. LOTS to be done to catch up. It's mostly Repub led now and I didn't know all that I was getting back into🙄 We'll see
how it goes. I'm here for now though. Very thankful for your posts, Justin. No time to watch the news for every single crazy thing the 🍊💩 is doing to the economy and I like to be informed! Thank you❤️
Why are pundits still fucking around with comments like “that doesn’t sound like a serious policy to me” nothing is! It’s meant to be dumb and only benefit Trump. Make comments that help save our country. Not jokes.
The voice of reason😊
You’ll get disassembly factories, importing whole computers and taking them apart because the components are more valuable separately.
Which will technically create jobs. But it's still dumb, lowering productivity overall, even if individual countries benefit.
My computer is made of cardboard. I has a gazillion RAM because it contains 100 microchips.
Nobody is building chip fabs in the USA , that ship has long gone. Especially now trump is charging his inmates random tariffs
This is NOT making America great. The semi conductor industry is king but not if we bankrupt it.
The next Samsung phone is going to be the oops all chips version
300% thats one way to give intel a fair or unfair advantage 😆 still 30% tariff on Chinese electronics a $500 phone will cost $650 this is how tariffs work or 30% Sales Tax
💯
I have to wonder is this all from Trumps head or did Bessent, Navarro and/or Lutnick have something to do with this brain fart of an idea? This is ill thought out but holds to the current randomized trend.
All three actual genius I dunno of what but its not economics If they actually believe what they spout out in the media Bessent manufacturers will wear the cost of tariffs yeah right Ludnick trumps got a plan just hang in there wear the pain 3d chess These guys are liars & idiots and think we are
No one knows exactly where the actual tariff money goes right?
Goes to fed coffers where trump has full exc privilege 2 it & he spends like maniac on everything except the common good $1.2 billion upgrade on a Qatar plane & more stupid like $200 mill dance hall in the WH Golf trips Est cost to taxpayer $120 mill a year 1/2 billion over 4 years & Now Sales Tax
Find an item that doesn’t have a tariff and stuff it full of microchips.
"...it's bananas... none of this makes sense" Thank you Justin for telling the truth about these tariffs.
It’s easy to think it’s just Trump being dumb (cuz he is), but he is also doing it because he has been instructed to- TO DESTROY US.
What about inside a ps5
He’s just providing content, for his sh*tty reality show. It’s not supposed to make sense.
Same with foreign car parts vs foreign cars. Cheaper to buy a car from Japan at 15% tariff than a US car made with foreign components at 35%-50%+ tariffs.
It's all so dysfunctional 🤦♀️
Geek #Idiocracy is here post of the year and they are stupendously weird and clueless. As expected. Not even up to a Confederate of Dunces. Sigh, so sad. We really are the laughingstock of the world.
Well that makes no fucking sense. Thanks for explaining what’s happening though.
I'm starting to think there are some really stupid people involved in this tariff stuff.
Nope, just evil greedy ones. They want inconvenient people to die.
🤔The same way they’ve been skating export controls…
