It would also bring a divide between the kids in red states and blue states. Red states will be more likely to remove diverse books and history that doesn’t work with their narrative. Trump also wants teachers to be fired if they don’t comply to what he wants states to be teaching.

This would be especially bad for rural kids because there are no private schools for them to go to and will still have less budget if I understand it correctly.

You’re welcome. Losing funding would be horrible but also that they don’t want children to learn parts of our history. Ultimately, he wants to keep pushing black people back. If kids don’t learn about slavery, they may have less empathy and not stand up for what is ahead for the black community

They also want to provide vouchers so public school kids can move to private schools on the public education budget. There’s only a set number of vouchers so ultimately the wealthier kids and voucher kids will be together and the “poor” kids will be left behind with less resources.

The Dept of Ed also protects children from discrimination and does testing to see where kids are academically. I guess you could say it overlooks the states to make sure kids are getting the education and resources they need and kiddos are not receiving less if they are from a marginalized pop

Trump wants to eliminate the Department because he wants the budget and control to go back to the states. A lot of schools, especially rural schools receive a lot of federal funds. The funds can go to a variety of things. One of the biggest is special education. It would also eliminate Headstart.
