My dad played this Chuck Mangione album constantly when I was a kid. Fond memories. RIP.
My dad played this Chuck Mangione album constantly when I was a kid. Fond memories. RIP.
Oh man. So did I.
RIP. I played the same album on repeat.
My dad played in a band w/ him HS. Rochester, NY
My Dad played Feel So Good. Music like a movie soundtrack to our ordinary life.
He made an obscure instrument famous! I had never heard of a flugelhorn before I heard of Chuck Mangione! Fun music. Your Dad was cool!
Need the full 9:00+ version to truly appreciate his talent and this classic. youtu.be/FExBwfQHXlE?...
I just bought this album a couple of days ago not realizing he’d passed. 🙁
Oh Gosh! Thanks, haven’t heard this in AGESso sad he’s gone😔
Rochester native and local legend
Actually. I just googled them. They're still around!!!
Do you recall the Star Spangled American Washboard Band? I think they were from Rochester. They Played in bars and clubs in Toronto back in the 70's
i do not. a little before my time i think, im an 80's teen
I first heard Chuck Mangione in the summer of '73. He's still a mainstay on my personal playlist 52 years later. RIP
My dad was playing King Crimson and Ten years after
We are the legacy of the wonderful people who loved us. You do him proud. 🌷
Sorry to hear that. Saw him with his brother, Gap, at the Great American Music Hall in SF decades ago. Have several vinyls of his. RIP Chuck.
Geez you are young!
Wait, Chuck Mangione died too??
Yeah :(
Oh! Sad news! Such good memories here too.
Hey @slickseesghosts.bsky.social - you remember me jamming the same album!?
yeah, Chuck was great!
Literally thought he was just an animated character and not a real person. youtu.be/TFqp2Bcekwk?...
For me it was his theme for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid…https://youtu.be/0HkDQWoK5Ps?feature=shared
This was music at it's best from a great era of music.
This has been a tough week for celebrity musicians.
He taught you well.
Wasn't that a theme for the Winter Olympics in '80?
Playing his way to the big man upstairs, brother!
Ditto! This was my introduction to jazz!!!
Love Chuck👍❤️
Same here. I still play Feels So Good whenever I am in a smooth jazz mood.
Damn, I missed this! As someone who chose the trumpet in Jr High back in the late 70s, Mangione was a huge part of my musical upbringing. I would argue that Feels So Good is one of greatest feel-good songs ever - I still listen to it whenever I'm down and need my spirit lifted! RIP, great one!
good memories. great bass line. RIP Chuck
I saw Chuck Mangione perform in Sarasota Florida. His father, who looked exactly like him, was out in the lobby grinning. What a great evening that was!
Which hurts you more his death or hulk hogans
At least Chuck had a real talent.
While I was never a Chuck Mangione fan, his presence didn’t make the world a worse place, which was the case with Hulk Hogan. The world is better off without Hulk Hogan.
i obviously have really mixed feelings on Hogan. he certainly was a legend of my childhood. but the way he conducted himself behind the scenes makes it hard to say anything good about his passing
I'll do it. "Hogan died? Good."
If you want an alternative view, I am a good 25 minutes into listening to @thebulwark.com absolutely simp over the guy though.
Many legends have turned out to be just assholes. 🤷♀️
let me try FUCK HULK HOGAN
For me, this one.
Another King of the Hill voice gone. I liked his music.
I am crushed, this is horrible!😭
Such great music! It brings back fond memories for me too. 😊 RIP Chuck.
I guess I am about as old as your dad. Chuck's music was a big part of my life - as a jazz/stage band kid growing up near Rochester in the late 1970s. RIP Mr. Mangione. www.google.com/search?sca_e...
💔
Man, I know he was 84, but it really is starting to feel like there's a King of the Hill curse. Looking forward to the reboot, but so many great performers gone too soon.
RIP💙🕊️🕊️
right in the feels
One of my favourites long out of print. This was a concert he pulled together in the early 80’s as a benefit for an area of Italy that was hit by an earthquake. Featured Steve Gadd, Dizzy Gillespie and Chick Corea. I would love to hear this remastered.
Oh I’ll bet that’s good
‘Legend of a one-eyed sailer’ was worth the price of this double album.
Enjoy! (and yes it is!) youtu.be/xwVCY1ZCoFQ?...
Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou thank you!!!!!
Chase the Clouds Away was released (1975) when I worked at a record store in KC. Pretty good seller at the time. We played it a lot.
Huh, I thought he died when the Arlen, Texas Mega Lo Mart blew up back in ‘98.
I heard that one a lot as well.
Beautiful song. RIP Chuck.
I took up the trumpet in 7th grade because of "Feels So Good" and "25 or 6 to 4". That lasted less than a year.
Oh damn. I swear this literally just came up on my YT "supermix" as I scrolled through to this post (it's not quite as crazy as it seems because I have played this album a lot this year, (along with his Chase The Clouds Away and, of course, Feels So Good)
I also strongly recommend an early outing of his with Art Blakey, Keith Jarrett (his first recording), Frank Mitchell and Reggie Johnson. Although Blakey's obviously the leader, it's recognisably a Mangione album. The whole thing's on YT. R.I.P. Mr Mangione. youtu.be/H7kow9HH_bI?...
Chuck was my go-to music when I wanted to study or do homework. It just made the time fly by.
Everyone in my group's Teams chat is talking about Hulk Hogan, and I keep having to remind them of the passing of the great Chuck Mangione
Mangione? Any relation to the claims adjuster?
I can’t hear the title song without it bringing back vivid memories of the 1980 Winter Olympics, since it was ABC’s official theme song. Miracle on Ice. Eric Heiden. Al Michaels. Chuck Mangione.
Oh, man… this album had grooves worn into it. Helped me through freshman year of college. RIP Chuck Mangione.
His live album at the Hollywood Bowl is incredible.
Oh man....another great has left us this week.....RIP
My parents listened to it as well. I’ve had several songs on regular rotation since my father died two years ago. RIP Chuck Mangione
I met him several times. He was a friend of my Dad.
Um, I still listen to his albums.
What? Chuck Mangione? 😥 Our favorite is Children of Sanchez.
Thanks for sharing, that song is dope
Mangione was a legend. RIP
OMG me too!!!
I still remember my father playing Feels So Good in the car on an 8 track
Ozzy. Hulk. Chuck. Celebs of the 70s & 80s are dropping like flies.
I’m sorry.
Great flugelhornist.
ah man, this is how i found out. bummer. he was a legend. we played Children of Sanchez and Feels So Good constantly in jazz band
💔
Ah, man. 😢
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Same!
YES!! The bass line at the end of the song rocked! I loved his music. R.I.P. Chuck 🎶❤️🎺
Haven't listened to this in YEARS! Immediately remember all the RIFFS! Got to see his band on the Paramount in Seattle 1977 😎
Your dad and me both.
Same.

Saw him live in 1979 in Elmira, NY. I was 17 and a huge fan. A wonderful show. So sad.
I remember hearing those songs over the radio at the community poll and while riding around in the back seat of my parents’ giant Chevy Impala. Happy memories.
As a trumpet player, Chucknwas unavoidably inspirational. youtu.be/1mLdUFw4Xfc
I could hear this song in my head just looking at the photo of the album.
My Mom’s favorite as well! RIP Chuck.
youtu.be/QgCgL8jC8cE?...
Oh no! I loved him from King of the Hill
Thanks Aaron, forgot all about this one!
Chuck Mangioni, brilliant musician. RIP 🙏❤️
