After the travel chaos yesterday i have a few thoughts. 1. *Never* check your carry on bag into the hold. 2. Keep all important charging cables on you, not in checked bags. 3. Keep one change of clothes - shirt & underwear at least - in carry on.

I hate having to check carry on bags in to the hold, if the airline tells me I can carry it on I should able to. It's their greed that created this problem. BTW there are a lot more storms forecast for later in the week.
We got delayed flying out of Munich two weeks ago, and now this +1 day delay, all due to Thunderstorms.
Usually you can also have a ‘laptop’ sized bag which in my case is always a rucksack which I pack with the things I need with me + spare clothes. If however you have a laptop, stick the rucksack in your carry on so you can extract it easily & have it with you when your carry on is put in the hold
Yep. Having been stuck in airports for 24 hours, I now always have spare undies, a t-shirt, and a toothbrush in my bag, plus chargers. Wet wipes are good too.
4. Use airtags for all luggage.
Also, a massive thank you to Lufthansa for all their help yesterday. They were as much a victim of the thunderstorms as we were and stayed professional and friendly throughout.
I would recommend not booking connecting flights tbrough Munich in the summer months though. This area is prone to thunderstorms and the risk of delay/cancellation is just too high. Or allow *at least* 2-3 hours transfer time if you do.
Are you all safe and sound now?
We're booked on a morning flight, then a bus, and then we'll be home. +1 day delay but it's worked out ok.
And any necessary medication!
