I suspect the situation was similar to today. The majority of people who want what is happening did not attend college. They voted for the guy who told them what they wanted to hear, that gave them an enemy to hate, who took advantage of their morality and faith and twisted it.

It isn't so much about college because I find plenty of college educated people who love Trump. The reality is that his base is a cult who hates brown people, and he didn't twist their faith or morality as they had already done so themselves for decades. He just tapped into that reality.
