Ok, I am *still* confused by this. Are people saying Trump thought the characters MS13 were tattooed onto his hand? Or that the symbols represent MS13, and they've been noted as such on the photo? Because the former is totally bonkers, while the latter is quite reasonable.

My takeaway from the interview clips was that he's confused about the question being asked (not much/any better!) and probably referring to the fact that the photo itself was real and not that the letters/numbers were actually tattooed. He's clearly falling apart mentally regardless.
Watch the whole segment with Terry Moran, Trump keeps insisting that MS13 is the tattoo. That's what caused all the controversy and Garcia's lawyers even asked the courts to stop Trump from making these comments We don't even know if the symbols are there, an earlier photo showed no tattoos at all
