Weirdly, I feel like if the Trump administration is brought down, it will not be because of its fascism. Rather, it will be his imposition of tariffs, which will hit everyone’s pocketbook, hard and quickly. Ironically, the tariffs are not even in the Project 2025 playbook, but may be its downfall.

I am 100% convinced we are in a dire situation that at the very least is going to do significant damage to our institutions, economy and science/expertise. I also feel very cynical about our ability to do anything about it. Friends who consider these concerns to be insane are many/most.

My take is that people don’t know what to do to stop this. All we hear is call “representatives and senators”. But for those of us in blue states, that doesn’t do much. They are already doing what they can. What we need is to back those people who are brave enough to start taking them on.
