I've read that if 10% of the troops refuse a mission (just aren't that into it), it would likely have a cascading effect, and the mission would fail. It seems we're well past the 10% mark. This could prove very embarrassing for Trump.

I participated an Adopt-a-Soldier program where we sent letters to soldiers in Iraq. Some were National Guard members who were sent there, and one wrote to me bitterly complaining that he hadn't signed up for actual military service. I haven't had much faith in the average Guardsman since.
