I refuse to call anything a PLE. It's not an AEW/WWE thing. Before AEW was even a thing I heard they were calling them PLEs now and I thought it sounded stupid AF. Right up there with "WWE Universe." Couldn't take them seriously.

that sort of weird, part of the real world but not really a part of the real world, wwe was more fun when they at least acknowledged other promotions, even if they were ripping on them. it felt more real, today it's over polished drama with meh matches

That was my reaction after I tuned in for the first time in 15 years (this was around 2018-2019). Overpolished to hell. Commentary was soulless, snake oil salesman shit. Ring work was at an all time low and just so many uninteresting f'n promos. Fortunately I didn't have to wait long for AEW.

I stopped watching wwe in 2002, right after Invasion and that, every time I dipped my toe back in, it was the same, which, over a 20 year span, that's sadly impressive, also, so glad aew came along , it's renewed that joy of wrestling
