I believe I read somewhere that the linens belong within the budget expense guidelines for Stornoway itself, and the occupant does not take them when they leave. So taxpayers have paid all along no matter who lived there. Those sheets better be Made in Canada nowadays. 🇨🇦

Yet it still seems outrageous for the sheets to cost $500.

I'm older, but getting wiser about purchasing items. Good quality, comfortable sheets can cost $500 (or more). We're not talking Walmart brand, we're talking good linen, cotton sheets that could last decades with proper care.

That's beside the point. Why should I be buying $500 sheets for the most hated man in Canada when I can't afford to buy them for myself?
