Every time some loser moans that AI is great because it removes the “barrier” of having to learn how to make art I am bitterly reminded of how one of the promises of AI until we got this horseshit was that it was supposed to give us more time to pursue things like creating art.

I have no sympathy for ppl whose pitch for AI is that they wouldn’t be able to make art without it, as they’re ultimately advocating for a world where all art for all time is owned by like five nazis whose server farms are killing marginalized people, but also we were promised *time*, not slop.
Anybody arguing that the future of art lies with generative AI is either a mark or, worse, someone whose only relationship to human creativity is that it is a means of producing product for the sake of being consumed, all as thoughtlessly as possible. The least serious people in the world.
