Oof… My wife had a friend with a boyfriend who was so addicted to WoW he sat and continued playing it as her friends came over to help her move out her belongings. Brutal. 😞
My dad was addicted to Underlight before becoming addicted to Everquest which is astonishing because Underlight is BARELY a game. My dad was basically welching on his responsibilities to his family to be present and engaged, in order to hang out with random strangers online right in front of us.

Thank you, all these years removed from it I mostly regard those memories in a "get a load of this asshole lol" sense, but, well, all my early recollections of my hobby are definitely entangled in this sort of not especially uplifting stuff. I mean I like online RP too! I'm obviously a gamer
Yeah, sometimes that’s the only way to process challenging memories. Ngl, it’s challenging as a parent sometimes to find the balance between personal time and responsibilities. I can understand how someone might latch onto a hobby as a way of not dealing with a difficult situation.
