That's grossly oversimplified, ignoring the nuance of the political and economic relationship. Yes, indeed, why try and overelaborate. This is not the conversation in hand. Minority rights are not a bargaining tool that can be burnt on the pire of opportunistic politicians chasing popularism.

That's nice of you to say. I'd argue that you can't simplify nuanced and complicated international treaties, rights and responsibilities which include the fundamental rights we hold as universal being a cornerstone of democracy. The middle ground is won by fighting false, prejudiced narratives.
